My experience with music began at 7 years old when I started playing guitar and violin. However, when I began playing drums at the age of ten, I knew I had found my calling. Ever since, drums and percussion have become an integral part of my life. As a teen, I played with several rock and funk outfits and participated in Sherwood High School jazz band, symphonic band, and various musical productions including Rock and Roll Revival. I went on to study classical percussion performance at Salisbury University, where I gained experience performing as a soloist and in chamber ensembles, symphony orchestra, opera and musical theatre orchestras, big bands, and jazz combos. In recent years I have worked freelance as drummer, playing funk, rock, jazz, and blues, as a percussionist in pit orchestras, and as a bassist in a funk band. In addition to working at Chuck’s, I currently freelance as a drummer, percussionist, and teacher.
I have been shopping at Chuck's the entirety of my drumming life. I got my first pair of sticks and Remo practice pad at the age of ten at Chuck's. A few years later, my parents generously bought my first drum set from Coleman upon a recommendation from my private teacher. I still remember buying my first "real" cymbal from Darren quite fondly. I started working at Chuck's when I was seventeen when Coleman hired me for drum stock. After working in the basement part time and going to school for 5 years, I now work full time at the counter. Recently, I have been undertaking more and more in depth drum repairs at chucks as well.
