With the advent of the Custom 24, a new paradigm was created for the guitar industry to follow. There is no other guitar model quite the same. Beyond it's immediately comfortable feel in your hands, it will respond to your every need like a tonal chameleon. Combined with upgraded Artist level specs and it's gorgeous custom color finish, this may actually be the one.
Since its introduction back in 1985, the Custom 24 has offered a unique tonal option for serious players and with it's definitive PRS tone and playability. Played by internationally touring artists, gigging club musicians, and aspiring players who only want quality, this Custom 24 features PRS’s patented Gen III tremolo system and PRS 85/15 pickups with volume and tone controls and a 5-way blade switch. The model 85/15 pickups were personally designed by Paul Reed Smith to offer a specific clarity, plus an extended high and low end.
This Paul Reed Smith Artist Package model has an Artist Grade flame maple top and the neck and back built with select mahogany. The fretboard itself is Ebony, with Artist Series Bird inlays that feature a green ripple outline/center. The headstock signature is inlaid using green Abalone, with the overlay veneer made of Gaboon Ebony. The Artist Package Custom 24 model delivers with the PRS Black Paisley hardshell case.
DRIVEN TO PERFECTION
PRS is driven to quality and to innovation, furthering the guitar industry’s already rich heritage with each new guitar. They build without compromise in tone, playability or beauty. The right wood choice is the foundation of every PRS instrument, so only the greatest care is taken in sourcing, cutting, drying, and grading each species of timber used. Every piece and every process is important to the finished instrument, so their team of luthiers focus - every step of the way - to ensure you are getting their best effort on what will be your very personal instrument.
Over a decade in development, the PRS V12 finish blends the thin, resonance-enhancing characteristics of an old-school nitrocellulose lacquer finish with the reliability you expect from a modern acrylic finish. It has a classic feel all its own, making your axe feel like a cherished old instrument — one that will stay flawless-looking for years to come.
