This "Wah-Wah" mute allows the player a whole new level of expression. Its classic sound is altered by manipulating the cup at the end of the mute.
I have a Jo-Ral bubble mute, which I love. It did not fit my new horn which has a larger bell - the mute did not make contact with the cork before the mute rubbed the bell. This on-stage was recommended by Lee as a suitable replacement that would fit. Its a little bit taller on the top which allows that. The sound with the stem in is a little more "old-timey" sounding than the Jo-Ral which has a more modern sound. But, with the stem out the sound is almost identical, and a very nice "miles" sound. Little restriction of blow through the horn with the mute (Jo-Ral also) compared to traditional Harmon mute, which was my primary reason for moving to something other than the Harmon.
