Background

I am a trumpet player and I perform with several bands in and around the Washington DC area. I love to play the trumpet!!! I love all musical instruments and I enjoy working with musicians.I grew up on Long Island, New York and got started playing the trumpet at the age of 6 after seeing a performance by Al Hirt on the Ed Sullivan Show. I started taking the trumpet seriously at the age of 15 when I began taking private lessons from some of the most notable trumpet players & teachers in the New York City area including Lew Gluckin, Murray Karpilovsky, Jimmy Maxwell and Al Majorca. At the age of 20, I moved to Boston to study Jazz Composition and Arranging at the Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee, I continued to study the trumpet with legendary trumpeters Wes Hensel and Lou Mucci. I graduated from Berklee in 1981 and hold a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Composition and Arranging.

I have performed and recorded with many bands and orchestras throughout the Northeast playing all styles of music. I have performed on the stages of Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and the Newport Jazz Festival. I got started in the music retail industry with the Boston Music Company in 1981 where I sold everything in music including Guitars, Drums, Accessories, Sheet Music, Band Instruments, PA Systems, Synthesizers and even Swiss Music Boxes. After working there for 9 years, I was offered a position at the Rayburn Musical Instrument Company to help develop their brass instrument department. At Rayburn, I was their brass instrument product specialist and marketing manager. I have traveled all over North America and Europe attending various industry trade shows and conventions. I have visited many of the top instrument makers factories and have consulted with several manufacturers on their product design and developments.
