  • Orchestral String Instrument Repair Technician

    Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center has an immediate opening for highly skilled and experienced Orchestral String Instrument repair technicians. Located just outside of the nation’s capital, Chuck Levin’s has been the leading independent strings retailer since 1958.

    We are interested in seasoned veteran repair technicians as well as recent repair school graduates. Applicants must have the ability to perform all manner of repairs on instruments of the violin family, including double bass.

    Graduate certification from an accredited repair school or two years of instrument repair experience is required.

  • Woodwind Repair Technician

  • E-Commerce Manager

    The E-Commerce Manager will oversee all aspects of e-commerce to ensure that the company maintains an authentic and credible online presence, stays current on emerging e-commerce trends and technology, and continues to grow profitability for all online channels. This is an executive-level management position that involves working closely with all areas of the business - acting as the liaison between Merchandising, Marketing, Planning, Fulfillment, and Operations teams.
    This is a full-time position. Compensation is negotiable and will include full benefits such as health, dental, and life insurance as well as 401K.

    Responsibilities:


    * Monitor sales on all online channels, and use data to optimize on-site merchandising and presentation.
    * Work with the executive management team to establish operational budgets and sales forecasts.
    * Monitor site metrics and provide detailed performance updates to upper management.
    * Develop and manage a team of support staff (including web content producers and web site customer service staff) and handle scheduling, training, and recommending new hires as needed to support the online channel.
    * Develop and maintain a current competitive market analysis to include sales trends, available technology and competitors positioning and pricing strategy.
    * Monitor product reviews, website feedback, and social media activity to identify areas of concern and pinpoint opportunities for improvement in the overall customer experience.
    * Establish customer service benchmarks, standards, and training materials.
    * Work with Information Technology Team to establish a Resource Protection Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan.
    * Work with buyers to maintain stock levels, oversee product availability needs, and devise sale/clearance strategies.
    * Help develop strategic industry partnerships for marketing partnerships, exclusive offerings, and promotions.
    * Identify opportunities to create compelling email campaigns to increase conversions.
    * Identify and explore new technology and sales tools to enhance Chuck Levin’s digital presence and drives sales.
    * Handle UX and UI development, keeping the site fresh and optimizing for new platforms (mobile, app, etc.)
    * Identify, qualify, and install applicable website apps to improve customer experience and analysis.
    * Translate the needs and goals of the business into clearly defined criteria for success.
    * To always be honest, fair, and ethical in business dealings with all staff, customers, and WMC executives.


    Requirements:


    * A passion for music and music equipment.
    * Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Office 365) and HTML/CSS
    * 5+ years of experience leading digital and online web store activities/teams, acting as a subject matter expert
    * 2+ years of experience working in Omnichannel retail environments involving traditional brick-and-mortar outlets, e-commerce sites, multi-media, content management, personalization, customer segmentation, SEO, and performance tracking and analysis.
    * Experience using Shopify Plus E-Commerce platform is required. Experience using other related e-commerce platforms such as Magento and Big Commerce is a plus.
    * Experience with the website development processes, some technical expertise, and a strong eye for pleasant and consistent aesthetic.
    * Familiarity with third party channel sales on platforms such as Ebay (required), Amazon, and Reverb.
    * Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    * Superior analytical, problem solving, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.
    * Excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
    * Exhibit and demonstrate a strong understanding of modern and innovative online digital marketing practices.
    * Ability to proactively identify, pursue, and execute opportunities for business process improvement.
    * Customer-centric mindset with a passion for improving the overall consumer experience.
    * Knowledge within the retail music industry, with established contacts and relationships being considered a strong asset.
    * Experience working with MS Navision (Dynamics NAV) would be ideal but strong management experience with any modern ERP/ CRM/ DRP and inventory management platform would still be considered a strong asset.
    * Familiarity with image editing software (Adobe Photoshop) preferred.

  • Accounts Payable Clerk

    Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center has an opening for a fulltime Accounts Payable Clerk to process a large volume of invoices, enter order confirmations, and verify costs against purchase orders.

    Requirements:


    * Five or more years of Accounts Payable and Inventory Control experience (utilizing purchase orders and receiving reports).
    * Ability to resolve vendor disputes and reconcile vendor statements.
    * Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
    * High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Some college (with experience in Accounting) preferred.
    * College-level basic Accounting.
    * Knowledgeable in basic Accounting procedures, practices, and principles.
    * Ability to determine work priorities to meet scheduled deadlines and terms of invoices.
    * Ability to follow, apply, and interpret instructions.
    * Must have great communication skills to interact with both co-workers and vendors.
    * Must be able to multitask and take on new tasks as assigned.

  • General Stock / Inventory

    Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center seeks qualified candidates for one entry-level General Stock/ Inventory position.

    This position is full-time and comes with competitive benefits such as health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, and 401K.

    Duties Include:


    * Loading/ unloading delivery trucks.
    * Merchandising items.
    * Maintaining accurate inventory through physical inspection and the use of Microsoft Navision software.
    * Cycle counts.
    * Assisting with customer and salesmen needs.

    Requirements:


    * Must have some weekend and evening availability.
    * Steady and consistent employment history.
    * High school diploma or GED equivalent.
    * Computer proficiency with an emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
    * Ability to lift 75 pounds regularly with ease.
    * Some college preferred.
    * 2 years stock or warehouse experience preferred

  • Drum Sales/ Percussion Expert

    We are searching for an experienced sales professional to add to our Drum Department. This position is full time (40 hours a week). Compensation is hourly plus commission for unlimited earning potential. Excellent benefits are available including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and 401K.

    Requirements:
    * Weekday and Saturday availability.
    * A passion for music and music accessories.
    * Five or more years of drumming experience.
    * Computer literacy with a functional understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Navision, etc.) and various social media platforms.
    * Two years of sales experience preferred.
    * A strong familiarity with the most common industry manufacturers, brands, models, and technology involved in the modern percussion world, to include:

    *** Traditional drum kits (Tama, Gretsch, DW)

  • Guitar Technician/ Stock

    Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center is seeking a full-time guitar technician to aid in the setup of daily instrument sales, to maintain the Guitar Department sales floor, and to specialize in Guitar Department inventory.

    Hourly wage commensurate with experience. Available benefits include sick pay, vacation leave, health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and 401K.

    All qualified candidates will be asked to participate in interviews and a bench test.

    Guitar Technician Job Duties
    * Set up guitars for that day’s online sales, tailored to the customers’ measurements and string preferences.
    * Set up and restring guitars sold in-store. Talk to customers directly to gauge their setup requests.
    * Regularly adjust, retune, and clean guitars on sales floor based on traffic, use, seasonal weather, and climate changes.
    * Monitor and refill humidifiers daily during the winter.

    Stock Job Duties
    * Put away and organize newly received product each day.
    * Cycle count existing product and reorganize/ stock rotate as necessary.
    * Repopulate sales floor with fresh product as guitars and amps sell. Rearrange displays accordingly.
    * Learn and utilize Microsoft Navision inventory software thoroughly.

    General Requirements
    * High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Some college preferred.
    * At least one year of guitar setup or repair experience in a professional setting.
    * Certification from guitar repair program beneficial but not necessary.
    * Familiarity with acoustic and electric guitars across many styles and brands.
    * Saturday availability required.
    * Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.

    Required Guitar Technician Skills
    * Restring steel string, nylon string, and electric guitars (including floating tremolo bridge and Floyd Rose bridge instruments).
    * Adjust truss rods.
    * Set string heights at specific points on fretboard.
    * Set intonation at bridge saddles.
    * File nut slots.
    * File fret ends.
    * Level, crown, and polish frets.
    * Oil and clean fretboards.
    * Minor soldering and electronics repair.
    * File acoustic guitar saddles.
    * Re-humidify dry guitars.
