Taylor Custom 12-Fret GA Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar - Cocobolo & Sinker Redwood

Great Looks To Match It's Powerful Voice - The Taylor Custom 12-Fret Grand Auditorium Acoustic Electric Guitar - Venetian Cutaway, Cocobolo Body & Sinker Redwood Top

This eye-catching Grand Auditorium guitar is built from a beautiful Sinker Redwood top and custom-selected cocobolo body woods that feature a distinctive striping pattern. Featuring a shorter scale neck at 24-7/8" and a beveled armrest, this Custom Taylor guitar is made for comfort. Thanks to the Cocobolo body, along with figured Hawaiian Koa binding and a full-gloss natural finish, this guitar has the looks to match its powerful voice.

Sinker redwood soundboards are sliced from huge old-growth redwood logs reclaimed from the depths of Northern California rivers, where they’ve lain in many cases for more than a century.

The tops typically display a rich spectrum of variegation, the result of colors uniquely imparted from silt and the mineral-rich water. The age and size of these trees translates into a tight grain with nice cross-grain stiffness, so it will tends to  fairly bold response, with a brilliance complemented by warm overtones similar to cedar. In fact, it’s often characterized around the Taylor complex as "cedar on steroids."

Tonally, this beautiful choice of body wood has a more focused character in it's midrange, and an edge somehow reminiscent of koa - but deftly embedded in lower tones and the feel you'd expect from a rosewood back and sides. Cocobolo is a denser, stiffer tropical hardwood that grows in Mexico. In appearance, this wonderful tone wood has the color vibrancy of the most highly figured rosewood, opening endless visual possibilities simply from the blending of it's reds into browns or blacks.

This model is one of only 10 created.
