We're extremely proud to be one of the 2009 Tour Stops for the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus.

We'll have a day full of events, including public tours of the bus itself, live musical performance, and product giveaways. There will also be a special music demo tent where you can make your own music!

The Schedule for the day is as follows:

  • 10:00AM until 12:00PM and 2:00PM until 5:00PM – Public Tours of the Bus
  • 2:45PM until 3:30PM - Live Performance by Ted Garber
  • 4:15PM until 5:00PM Open Jam, come up and play!
    All Live Music Events are Subject to cancellation in the event of bad Weather
  • 5:00PM Drawings and Give-A-Ways from:
    • Godin Guitars (A Redline 1 Guitar in Transparent Green)
    • Mackie (A Pair of MR5 Reference Monitors and a Blackheart BH5-112 Little Giant Combo)
    • Roland (A Boss DN-2 Dyna Drive Pedal plus huge factory rebates on gear from Roland and Boss)

    We will also have our friends here from the DC Area School of Rock Locations on site, providing information about their programs to get kids playing.

    Make sure you come by and check out the bus, and enter for your chance to win one of the items given away in the raffles.

    We will have Manufacturer's representatives on hand from Roland, Boss, Edirol, Godin Guitars, and Audio Technica, Mackie.

    In addition, everyone who attends will get a goodie bag with products and info from sponsors of the bus.

    The Mission

    The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is a non-profit 501(c)(3) state-of-the-art mobile audio and HDvideo recording and production facility. In its eleventh year, marked by the launch of a brand new Bus with the very newest technology and gear, the Bus continues to be dedicated to providing young people with tours of the studios and participation in free songwriting and multimedia production workshops. With the assistance of three on-board engineers, students learn how to write, perform, record, and produce original songs, produce and shoot music videos and go home with a broadcast quality music video on aMaxell DVD - all in one day!

    The Bus is highly adaptable, designed to provide students, their schools and communities with performances, demonstrations, remote recordings, and studio sessions customized for their needs, levels of experience, and interest. All projects created on board are available for viewing on lennonbus.org, itunes, youtube, facebook, and myspace.

    The Studios

    The Lennon Bus has an illustrious history as a hit maker, with chart-topping singles from The BlackEyed Peas and Fergie recorded on board. These same professional studios offer students of all ages theopportunity to participate in the creation of their own multimedia projects.

    The interior is divided into three separate studio environments that can be opened to create one largestudio. The front studio is a cutting-edge audio and video production room. The rear studio offerspro-level recording and mixing at the highest possible resolution, as well as an isolation booth for acoustic recordings, and a chromate booth provided by Reflecmedia. Powered by Apple computers, the studios feature traditional musical instruments including Roland V-Drums and Keyboards, Godin Guitars and Basses, Mackie Studio Monitors, and the latest Sony HD products and solutions.

    Performances and Demonstrations

    At selected stops, the side of the Bus becomes a performance area. All necessary sound equipment, instruments and back-line are stowed on board. Events designed for entire communities feature performances by students as well as emerging and legendary artists. While the Bus is on site, the Lennon Tents give visitors the chance to get hands on with the latest equipment including Roland keyboards and drums. All visitors receive free gift bags containing Maxell media, demo versions of Ableton Live and Sibelius music notation software and the chance to win special prizes.

    Concerts, Festivals, Tours and Trade Shows

    The Bus works with local students while on tour with such laudable performers as The Black Eyed Peas, Bob Weir, John Legend, Macy Gray, Fergie, Tim McGraw, Enrique Iglesias, Mos Def, Wyclef Jean, and many others. The Lennon Bus attends and records many of the biggest festivals including WARPED Tour, X Games, Wall to Wall Guitar Festival, JazzFest, and the Voodoo Music Festival, to name a few. In addition, it makes appearances at conferences and conventions such as NAMM, Macworld, CES, AES, NAB, and SXSW.

    The Staff

    The Bus travels with a staff of three recording and multimedia engineers who work closely with students to provide personalized education and instruction. They are committed to utilizing the resources on board so that each completed project reflects the ideas, interests and goals of its student creators. These dedicated engineers are tireless in their desire to provide the best possible experiences for everyone who comes on board.

    History

    The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, was created by Executive Director Brian Rothschild and music manager David Sonenberg. The Bus is committed to providing young people with free hands-on opportunities to learn about music, video and broadcast creation, production and technologies. Over the years, guests have included celebrated artists including Carlos Santana, will.i.am and The Black Eyed Peas, John Legend, Macy Gray, LeAnn Rimes, Mary J. Blige, NAS, Al Jarreau, Dave Koz, and Wyclef Jean, to name a few. Many of these stars take time out of their very busy schedules to show support for the BusŐ efforts and participate in related activities, often working directly with students on board.
